From Photography to Porcelain

Hello, my name is Ronaldo Aguiar, and I'm a photographer. My relationship with porcelain began in 2022, when I was looking for a medium for a photography project. I used porcelain plaques to hold the photos exhibited in New York in September of that year.

At the same time, I began studying archaeology because of my interest in rock art and its ramifications, including ceramics.

From then on, porcelain and clay became part of my daily life.

The transition to creating and producing homewares was a natural consequence. I began using different methods to find simple forms, creating or recreating everyday objects with historical references, even from more recent periods.

The pieces are produced using processes that use liquid porcelain, porcelain mass, clay, molds, hand-crafted construction, and enamel creation. They are designed to bring color, lightness, and art to everyday life.

Sustainability

In the studio, the priority is sustainable and circular production.

All material used will be recycled in some way.

The clay lost during the creation of a piece is reused. Already fired objects that do not pass quality control are used for color testing or as chamotte, a ceramic additive made from previously fired and ground clay, used to reduce shrinkage and increase the strength of the clay during drying and firing.

The materials are purchased from companies that, in their production chain, care about the environment.

Studio Policies

  • PRIVACY: Your privacy is extremely important to me. I will never share your email or your data. I don't have a mailing list or send promotional emails. You can see all the latest news here in the website highlights, on the blog, and on Instagram. Therefore, your privacy is guaranteed.

  • DELIVERY TIME : Items are shipped within 5 to 10 business days after ordering. This is because I don't maintain large inventories to avoid waste and thus contribute to more sustainable and conscious production.

  • EXCHANGES AND RETURNS: Items leave the studio appropriately packaged for shipping. If your purchase is damaged during shipping, the item will be replaced (a photo of the damaged packaging and item is strictly required!). However, no replacements will be issued if damage is caused by improper handling of the items or packaging. Other cases will be reviewed.

  • ABOUT THE PIECES: Here in the studio, the pieces are handmade (with molds or by hand), glazed individually, and fired twice in an electric ceramic kiln. Because the process is manual, some slight differences between the pieces may occur. This is the charm of handmade pieces! However, I take the utmost care and control to ensure these differences are minimal and do not compromise the overall look. But remember: these are handmade pieces!
